No idea if Doug will ever see this, but I hope he understands the amount of impact he has had on me. More than any artist he has influenced me and inspired me to have a work ethic around it. Growing up I had a lot of struggles very similar to Doug’s, but started drawing and now I’m pursuing a career in writing and illustrating my own tabletop RolePlaying game books. I couldn’t be doing this without the inspiration and information from his talks and interviews. I hope I can someday achieve the level of mastery he has and the character he shows. Thank you for making this available online! And thank you Doug!!

HORRIBLE SCHOOL!! ... SO MUCH I COULD SAY... I won every scholarship then my last year they took the largest scholarship away from me basically, they gave me the title of the scholarship Matilda Wilson Scholarship but did not increase my funding the final year. STILL CARRY THIS DEBT TODAY AND IT IS THREE TIMES WHAT IT WAS AND YES I HAVE PAID SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TOWARDS IT OVER THE YEARS!!! ALSO many of the angry fellow students whom did not like people like me weaseled their ways into teaching positions there and more.. Showing is controlled there and at their satellite affiliate galleries and others whom they inside trade with such as the Detroit Artist Market and more... I will continue to protest the school

Cartoons and Anime: a direction in art with many different artists and styles Me: Has beend drawing representational anime art in his own style CSS: Anime is not your style Sounds like bs to me Saying Anime is a style, is like saying Renaissance is a style or Impressionism. If I was to copy Monet, then yes, it is not my style, but me drawing an impressionist piece in my style is still MY STYLE. Clear up this conundrum for me, because i feel like it is just gate keeping for the sake of seeming pompous. Even if it is required to weed out people, who don't know art fundamentals, it is still BS, because both cartooning and anime require a firm grip on them for it to look good(especially anime, where the only heavily stylized part is the face, which still requires shape design, colour theory and exaggeration skills, while all other parts like backgrounds, anatomy and gesture chin-down, lighting, composition and form stay the same as realism or at least follow the same principles)

This gets me teared up every time I see it. I'll design one too someday. For now, it's toys. For the future, to be on that dream list. 🦇
